Education In McMinn County

Athens and McMinn County have an educational system which is second to none. Students' needs are well met here. The Chamber of Commerce regularly checks on the needs of businesses and makes recommendations to technical schools and colleges which continually update the programs and assures today's students are prepared to enter the labor force.
In addition to the Chamber of Commerce taking an interest in the school system, local businesses participate in a program called "Adopt-a-School" through Junior Achievement. This prepares and enriches students for active participation in the business world and teaches them the basics of the free enterprise system.

The school system consists of a city-education system for elementary grades and Junior High, plus a county system for elementary and high school. There are also several private schools in the area.
As if all this were not enough, there are several four-year colleges to choose from: Tennessee Wesleyan College (Located in Athens) and the University of Tennessee at both Knoxville and Chattanooga are within easy commuting distance.
